Security Technology Specialist
We are seeking a Security Technology Specialist to support the design, implementation, administration and continuous improvement of security technologies across a complex IT environment. The successful candidate will help protect systems, networks, applications and data by ensuring security controls are effectively configured, monitored and maintained. This role will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, applications, service management and risk teams to identify vulnerabilities, strengthen defensive capabilities and respond to emerging threats.
Key responsibilities will include managing and tuning security platforms such as endpoint protection, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, security information and event management, vulnerability management, identity and access management, email security and cloud security tools. You will investigate alerts and incidents, support containment and remediation activities, contribute to security monitoring and reporting, and assist with threat hunting and forensic analysis where required. The role will also involve reviewing technical changes, supporting security assessments, maintaining accurate documentation, developing operational procedures and ensuring controls align with relevant policies, standards and regulatory obligations. You may also contribute to security projects, technology evaluations, automation initiatives and disaster recovery exercises.
Applicants should have proven experience supporting or administering enterprise security technologies, together with a sound understanding of networking, operating systems, cloud platforms, authentication protocols, encryption and common cyber-attack techniques. Experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint detection and response, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, identity platforms or security orchestration tools will be highly valued. Relevant professional certifications or equivalent practical experience are desirable. You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to assess risk and prioritise competing demands. Clear communication is essential, as the role requires explaining technical issues to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, collaborating effectively with colleagues and external partners, and producing concise, accurate reports. A proactive approach, commitment to continual learning and a strong understanding of confidentiality and responsible security practice are expected.
