We are looking for a Platform and Services Engineer specialising in Identity and Access Management (IAM) to help design, operate and continuously improve secure, reliable identity services across a complex technology environment. This role can be based in Cambridge, Leeds or London, with flexible working arrangements available. You will work closely with infrastructure, security, application and service teams to ensure that users, systems and applications have the right access at the right time.

Your responsibilities will include administering and developing IAM platforms, including authentication, authorisation, directory services, privileged access and identity lifecycle management. You will support joiner, mover and leaver processes, investigate access issues, manage integrations with cloud and on-premise services, and contribute to the automation of routine tasks. You will monitor service performance, respond to incidents, participate in problem management and maintain clear technical documentation. You will also help implement appropriate controls, review access models, support audit activity and contribute to security improvement initiatives.

We are seeking experience in an IAM, platform engineering or systems administration role, together with a strong understanding of identity concepts, access controls and security best practice. Familiarity with technologies such as Active Directory, Entra ID or similar directory platforms, single sign-on, federation protocols including SAML and OpenID Connect, and role-based access control would be valuable. Experience with scripting or automation, particularly PowerShell, Python or infrastructure-as-code tools, is desirable. You should be comfortable working across technical teams, managing competing priorities and explaining complex issues clearly to a range of stakeholders. A proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to reliable, secure services are essential.
