Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Engineer
We are seeking an Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Engineer to help protect industrial control systems, operational networks and critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. Working across engineering, technology, operations and risk teams, you will support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of OT security controls while maintaining the safety, reliability and availability of operational environments.
Your responsibilities will include assessing OT architectures, networks and control systems; identifying vulnerabilities and cyber risks; and developing practical remediation plans that reflect operational constraints. You will contribute to network segmentation, secure remote access, identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, security monitoring and incident response across OT environments. You will also support security assessments, technical reviews, risk evaluations and change activities, ensuring that proposed solutions are proportionate and do not adversely affect production or safety. The role will involve maintaining security documentation, standards, procedures and asset inventories, as well as producing clear reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders. You may also assist with investigations, threat intelligence reviews, audit activities and the development of OT cyber security awareness and training.
Applicants should have experience in OT, industrial control systems, SCADA, PLC, DCS or similar operational environments, together with a strong understanding of industrial networking protocols and technologies. Knowledge of recognised cyber security frameworks and standards, such as IEC 62443, NIST or ISO 27001, is desirable. You will need practical experience with security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, risk management and incident response, along with the ability to work collaboratively in complex, safety-conscious settings. Relevant qualifications in cyber security, information technology, engineering or a related discipline are advantageous, as are professional certifications. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside a willingness to work with stakeholders at all levels and, where required, support site visits or out-of-hours incident response.
