Cyber Security Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to help protect critical systems, applications and data from evolving threats. Working as part of a collaborative security and technology function, you will support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of robust cyber security controls across a complex digital environment.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring security events, investigating alerts and incidents, and helping to coordinate effective responses to suspected breaches. You will contribute to vulnerability management, security testing, patch assurance and risk assessments, ensuring that weaknesses are identified, prioritised and addressed. You will also help maintain security tooling, develop technical standards and provide clear recommendations to colleagues and stakeholders.
The role will involve working closely with infrastructure, cloud, software development and service teams to embed secure practices throughout the technology lifecycle. You may contribute to security architecture reviews, access control processes, threat modelling, audit activity and the development of incident response procedures. Accurate documentation and timely reporting will be essential, as will the ability to explain technical risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will have practical experience in a cyber security, infrastructure security or similar engineering role, with a sound understanding of information security principles and common attack techniques. Experience with security monitoring and analysis tools, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, identity and access management, firewalls or cloud security technologies would be advantageous. Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST or CIS Controls is desirable.
We are looking for someone analytical, proactive and curious, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning. Relevant professional certifications or qualifications, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent practical experience, are welcome. You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, working collaboratively and exercising sound judgement when handling sensitive information.
This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in strengthening security resilience, improving defensive capabilities and supporting the safe delivery of technology-enabled services. Flexible working arrangements may be available, subject to operational requirements.
