We are seeking an Information and Cyber Security Operations Engineer to help protect critical systems, networks, applications and data against evolving cyber threats. You will support the day-to-day operation, monitoring and continuous improvement of security controls across a complex technology environment, working closely with infrastructure, cloud, service delivery and risk teams. This is an hands-on role requiring strong technical judgement, a proactive approach and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring security alerts and events, investigating suspicious activity, supporting incident response and coordinating remediation activities. You will administer and optimise security technologies such as SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, firewalls, identity and access management, email security and cloud security platforms. You will contribute to threat detection and hunting, develop and maintain operational procedures, review security logs, support security testing and help ensure that vulnerabilities are prioritised and resolved within agreed timescales. You will also assist with security assessments, audit evidence, risk treatment plans and the implementation of improvements aligned with recognised security standards and best practice.

Applicants should have practical experience in cyber security operations, security monitoring, incident handling or a closely related technical discipline. A good understanding of networking, operating systems, cloud environments, authentication technologies, common attack techniques and security principles is essential. Experience with SIEM queries, endpoint detection and response, vulnerability scanning, scripting or automation would be advantageous. Relevant professional certifications or formal training in cyber security are desirable, but demonstrable hands-on capability is equally valued. You will need excellent analytical and communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to explain technical risks clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues. The role may involve participation in an out-of-hours incident response or on-call rota.
