We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer – Threat Detection to strengthen security monitoring and incident detection capabilities across a complex technology environment. In this role, you will design, develop and maintain detection use cases that identify suspicious activity across endpoints, networks, cloud platforms, applications and identity systems. You will work closely with security operations, infrastructure, engineering and risk teams to investigate threats, improve visibility and reduce the time required to detect and respond to security incidents.

Key responsibilities include creating and tuning detection rules, alerts, dashboards and correlation logic within security monitoring and analytics platforms; analysing security events and threat intelligence to identify emerging attack techniques; and supporting the investigation, containment and remediation of confirmed incidents. You will conduct threat hunting activities, validate detection coverage through simulations or testing, and contribute to the development of playbooks, response procedures and security automation. The role also involves reviewing false positives, improving alert quality, documenting technical processes and providing clear reports and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have professional experience in cyber security engineering, threat detection, security operations or a related discipline, together with a strong understanding of attack techniques, defensive controls and incident response principles. Practical experience with SIEM, EDR, XDR, SOAR or cloud security tooling is required, as well as the ability to write queries and detection logic using languages such as KQL, SPL, SQL or Python. Knowledge of frameworks including MITRE ATT&CK, familiarity with networking, operating systems, identity services and cloud technologies, and experience applying threat intelligence to detection development are highly desirable. You should be analytical, methodical and comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Relevant professional certifications or equivalent hands-on experience will be valued.
