Automotive Cyber Security Lead
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Cyber Security Lead to define and deliver vehicle cybersecurity strategies across the full product lifecycle. You will lead security activities from concept and architecture through development, verification, production and post-production support, ensuring that connected vehicle systems meet relevant regulatory, industry and customer requirements. Working closely with engineering, software, systems, safety, quality and programme teams, you will help embed security-by-design into vehicle platforms, electronic control units, communication networks and supporting services.
Your responsibilities will include conducting threat analysis and risk assessments, defining cybersecurity goals and requirements, reviewing system and software architectures, and guiding the implementation of appropriate security controls. You will oversee security case development, vulnerability management, penetration testing, incident response planning and continuous risk monitoring. The role will also involve maintaining cybersecurity processes, standards and technical documentation, supporting audits and assessments, and providing clear reports to technical and senior stakeholders. You will mentor engineers and promote a strong cybersecurity culture across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
Applicants should have substantial experience in automotive cybersecurity, embedded systems, vehicle electronics, connected vehicles or a closely related field. A strong understanding of recognised automotive cybersecurity frameworks and regulations, including ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155/R156, is essential. Experience with TARA methodologies, secure development lifecycles, in-vehicle networks such as CAN, LIN and Ethernet, cryptography, secure diagnostics, over-the-air updates and cloud or mobile integrations would be highly beneficial. You should be confident analysing complex technical issues, influencing stakeholders and translating security risks into practical engineering actions. Relevant professional qualifications in cybersecurity, systems engineering or a related discipline are desirable, alongside excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
