We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer, Cyber Security Controls Automation to design, build and lead the delivery of scalable solutions that strengthen security control compliance across a complex technology environment. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, cyber security, cloud platforms and governance, translating control requirements into reliable, automated capabilities that improve visibility, reduce operational risk and support continuous assurance.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and architecture through development, testing, deployment and ongoing optimisation. You will develop automation for security control monitoring, evidence collection, exception management, risk reporting and remediation workflows. Responsibilities will include defining engineering standards, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, establishing secure and repeatable delivery practices, and integrating solutions with cloud services, identity platforms, configuration management tools, security products and enterprise data sources. You will also collaborate with cyber security, technology, audit, risk and compliance stakeholders to ensure solutions are practical, measurable and aligned with regulatory and organisational requirements.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience delivering production-grade software and automation in a cyber security, platform engineering, DevSecOps or governance, risk and compliance environment. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript or similar are required, together with experience designing APIs, event-driven services, data pipelines and automated testing. You should be comfortable working with cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, source control and modern observability practices. Knowledge of security frameworks and control standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS or equivalent, will be highly valuable. Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to influence technical direction while remaining hands-on. Security certifications or relevant experience in regulated environments would be advantageous.
