We are seeking an experienced Head of Cyber Defence & Incident Response to lead the development and delivery of a resilient, intelligence-led cyber security capability. This senior role will provide strategic direction across security operations, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management and cyber resilience, ensuring the organisation is prepared to prevent, identify, contain and recover from increasingly sophisticated threats. You will advise senior stakeholders on cyber risk, translate technical issues into clear business impacts, and promote a strong culture of security and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include leading and developing cyber defence and incident response teams; establishing and refining security monitoring, detection and response processes; overseeing the investigation and management of major cyber incidents; and coordinating communications, escalation and post-incident reviews. You will maintain and test incident response, disaster recovery and crisis management plans, ensuring lessons learned are embedded into operational practice. The role will also oversee threat intelligence, security tooling, vulnerability remediation and security metrics, while working closely with technology, risk, legal, compliance and operational teams. You will contribute to security architecture and control improvements, support audit and regulatory requirements, and manage relationships with external security partners, law enforcement and relevant industry bodies.

Applicants should bring substantial experience in cyber security operations, incident response or cyber defence, including demonstrable leadership of teams in complex environments. You will have strong knowledge of security operations centres, SIEM and EDR technologies, threat intelligence, digital forensics, vulnerability management and recognised incident response frameworks. Experience handling high-severity incidents, developing cyber strategies and presenting risk to executive audiences is essential. Relevant professional qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent experience are desirable. We are looking for a calm, decisive and collaborative leader with excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to influence at all levels while delivering practical, risk-based outcomes.
