Senior Data Scientist - (Privacy & Security Controls)
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of privacy and security controls across data products, analytical platforms, and machine learning workflows. In this role, you will apply advanced statistical, analytical, and engineering expertise to identify risks, strengthen safeguards, and enable responsible use of data at scale. You will work closely with data engineering, security, privacy, legal, compliance, and product teams to translate complex requirements into practical, measurable controls.
Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing methods for data classification, anonymisation, pseudonymisation, access monitoring, retention management, and sensitive-data detection. You will develop metrics, models, and testing frameworks to assess privacy risk, control effectiveness, and potential security vulnerabilities. You will also investigate anomalous data usage, support incident response and risk assessments, and recommend improvements based on evidence and emerging threats. The role will involve reviewing new products and machine learning initiatives, documenting technical decisions, and communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You may also mentor data scientists and engineers and contribute to standards, governance frameworks, and best practices.
Applicants should have substantial experience in data science, privacy engineering, security analytics, or a related field, with strong proficiency in Python and SQL and practical experience working with large, complex datasets. You will bring a solid understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning, data governance, access controls, and secure data-handling principles. Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies, differential privacy, identity and access management, cloud platforms, or regulatory frameworks such as GDPR is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving, documentation, stakeholder-management, and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to balance robust risk reduction against usability, scalability, and business needs. A degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, cybersecurity, or a comparable discipline is preferred.
