Security Analyst: 2nd Line
We are seeking a Security Analyst: 2nd Line to support the investigation, management and resolution of information security incidents across a complex technology environment. You will act as an escalation point for first-line security monitoring and service teams, assessing alerts, validating potential threats and coordinating appropriate responses. The role will involve analysing logs and security events, investigating suspicious activity, identifying root causes and ensuring incidents are accurately documented through to closure.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and triaging alerts from security tools such as SIEM, endpoint detection and response, firewalls, vulnerability scanners and identity platforms. You will contribute to incident response activities, including containment, remediation and recovery, while escalating serious or complex events in line with established procedures. You will also support vulnerability management, security investigations, threat intelligence reviews and the development of practical recommendations to reduce risk. Maintaining clear case records, producing incident reports and identifying recurring issues will be an important part of the role.
The successful candidate will have practical experience in a security operations, incident response or cyber defence environment, with a good understanding of common attack techniques, security controls and investigative processes. Knowledge of networking, operating systems, cloud services, identity and access management, and security principles is expected. Experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint security technologies, ticketing systems and relevant security frameworks would be advantageous. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise competing incidents, explain technical issues to varied audiences and remain calm under pressure. Industry-recognised security certifications or relevant professional training are desirable, as is a proactive approach to improving processes, procedures and overall security resilience.
