Senior Security Operations Centre Analyst

As a Senior Security Operations Centre Analyst, you will play a key role in protecting critical systems, networks and data by monitoring, investigating and responding to security events. Working as part of a collaborative security function, you will provide senior-level analysis across a range of alerts and incidents, helping to identify threats, reduce risk and strengthen operational resilience. You will assess suspicious activity, determine its impact and coordinate appropriate containment, eradication and recovery actions in line with established procedures.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring security information and event management platforms, endpoint detection tools, network security technologies and threat intelligence sources. You will investigate escalated alerts, perform detailed analysis of logs and indicators of compromise, and develop clear incident reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will support incident response activities, contribute to forensic investigations and ensure incidents are accurately documented through to closure. The role will also involve reviewing and improving detection rules, playbooks and operating procedures, identifying opportunities to enhance monitoring coverage and reducing false positives. You may also support vulnerability management, security testing, threat hunting and the delivery of security awareness or operational briefings.

Applicants should have substantial experience in a security operations, incident response or cyber defence environment, with a strong understanding of security monitoring principles, attack techniques and incident management processes. Experience using SIEM, EDR, network monitoring and ticketing technologies is essential, along with the ability to interpret logs and analyse events across cloud, infrastructure and end-user environments. Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GIAC, CISSP or equivalent professional experience would be advantageous. You will need excellent problem-solving and communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm when managing high-priority incidents. A proactive approach, commitment to continuous learning and willingness to support colleagues in a shift-based or on-call environment are also required.
