Cyber Operations Manager
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Operations Manager to lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for protecting critical systems, networks and data against an evolving threat landscape. This is an opportunity to shape cyber defence operations, strengthen resilience and ensure that security capabilities support wider organisational objectives.
You will oversee the day-to-day operation of security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management and threat detection services. Working closely with technology, risk and business teams, you will ensure that alerts are investigated promptly, incidents are contained effectively and lessons learned are translated into measurable improvements. You will also maintain operational readiness through playbooks, exercises, reporting and continuous review of security controls.
Key responsibilities will include managing internal specialists and external service providers; setting priorities, standards and performance measures; overseeing security event monitoring and response processes; coordinating investigations into suspected breaches; and ensuring vulnerabilities are assessed, prioritised and remediated within agreed timescales. You will contribute to cyber risk assessments, audit activity and regulatory reporting, while providing clear updates to senior stakeholders on threats, incidents, trends and operational performance.
To succeed in this role, you will have substantial experience in cyber security operations, incident management or a closely related discipline, together with proven experience leading teams or operational functions. You will be confident working with security monitoring and orchestration technologies, endpoint protection, vulnerability management tools and cloud environments. A strong understanding of security frameworks, threat intelligence, identity management and risk-based decision-making is essential.
Excellent communication and influencing skills are required, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Relevant professional qualifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GIAC or equivalent practical experience, would be advantageous. You will be analytical, calm under pressure and committed to building a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.
