We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Cyber Security Operations Engineer to lead the development and delivery of secure, resilient and effective cyber security operations. This is a senior technical leadership role, responsible for strengthening operational capability, improving threat detection and response, and supporting the ongoing maturity of security services across a complex technology environment.
You will provide direction across security operations engineering, working closely with infrastructure, cloud, application, risk and compliance teams. Key responsibilities will include designing and maintaining security monitoring, detection and response capabilities; overseeing the integration and optimisation of SIEM, SOAR, EDR and vulnerability management platforms; and ensuring that security controls are appropriately configured, tested and documented.
The role will lead the investigation and resolution of significant security events, supporting incident response, threat hunting, digital forensics and post-incident improvement activity. You will establish effective operational standards, metrics and reporting, identify opportunities for automation, and contribute to security architecture and technology roadmaps. You will also provide technical leadership to engineers and analysts, develop capability within the team, and promote consistent adherence to security policies and industry best practice.
Applicants should have substantial experience in cyber security operations engineering, ideally within a large, regulated or complex environment. You will bring strong knowledge of security monitoring and detection principles, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, network security and cloud security. Experience with security tooling such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR, identity protection and security orchestration technologies is essential, together with the ability to lead technical delivery and manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are required, as is the ability to translate complex technical risks into clear recommendations for senior audiences. Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent, would be advantageous. This opportunity would suit a collaborative and strategic security professional who is comfortable remaining technically engaged while leading operational improvement and delivering measurable outcomes.
