Data Protection Coordinator
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Protection Coordinator to support the effective management of data protection, privacy, and information governance activities across the organisation. Working closely with colleagues, stakeholders, and relevant external contacts, you will help ensure that personal data is handled lawfully, securely, and transparently in line with applicable legislation, regulatory guidance, and internal policies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in privacy and compliance who can combine analytical thinking with practical, well-organised administration.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining records of processing activities, coordinating responses to data subject rights requests, supporting the management and investigation of personal data breaches, and assisting with data protection impact assessments. You will help review and update privacy notices, policies, procedures, guidance, and information-sharing agreements, while monitoring completion of mandatory training and maintaining accurate compliance records. You will also support audits, risk assessments, governance reporting, and the timely completion of actions arising from reviews or incidents. The role will involve responding to routine data protection queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately, and promoting good information-handling practices through clear advice and effective communication.
Applicants should have practical experience in data protection, information governance, compliance, records management, or a related field, together with a sound understanding of relevant privacy principles and legislation. Excellent organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy when handling sensitive information. You should be confident communicating with people at all levels, able to explain technical or regulatory requirements in plain English, and comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively. Experience of handling data subject requests, breach management, privacy impact assessments, or compliance monitoring would be advantageous. A professional data protection or information governance qualification, or a willingness to work towards one, is desirable.
