Cyber Defense Incident Responder - Associate Director
We are seeking a Cyber Defense Incident Responder – Associate Director to lead the investigation, containment, and resolution of complex cybersecurity incidents. This senior role will provide technical direction during high-impact events, coordinate response activities across security and technology teams, and help strengthen the organisation’s overall cyber resilience. The successful candidate will operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, making sound decisions under pressure while maintaining clear communication with technical and senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include monitoring and triaging security alerts, leading investigations into suspected compromises, analysing endpoint, network, identity, cloud, and application telemetry, and developing accurate incident timelines. You will coordinate containment, eradication, and recovery activities; oversee evidence collection and preservation; and produce detailed incident reports, executive briefings, and post-incident reviews. The role will also contribute to threat hunting, detection engineering, playbook development, vulnerability remediation, and continuous improvement of incident response processes. You may be required to participate in an on-call or out-of-hours response rota and support crisis management activities during major incidents.
Applicants should have substantial experience in cyber incident response, digital forensics, security operations, or a related discipline, including experience leading investigations and coordinating cross-functional response teams. Strong knowledge of common attack techniques, malware behaviour, identity threats, network security, cloud environments, and security monitoring platforms is required. Experience with SIEM, EDR, SOAR, forensic, and threat intelligence tools is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as CISSP, GCFA, GCIH, GCIA, or equivalent qualifications would be advantageous. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, together with the ability to influence stakeholders, mentor colleagues, manage competing priorities, and translate complex technical findings into clear business recommendations.
