Cyber Defense Incident Responder
We are seeking a Cyber Defense Incident Responder to join a security operations team responsible for protecting critical systems, applications, networks, and data. In this role, you will monitor, investigate, and respond to suspected and confirmed cybersecurity incidents across a complex technology environment. You will analyse alerts from security monitoring platforms, endpoint detection tools, network sensors, identity systems, and other sources to determine the nature, scope, and impact of threats.
Your responsibilities will include leading or supporting incident response activities from initial triage through containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review. You will perform forensic analysis, develop timelines of attacker activity, identify indicators of compromise, and recommend effective remediation measures. The role will involve creating and maintaining detection rules, playbooks, and response procedures, as well as collaborating with infrastructure, application, risk, and compliance teams to strengthen defensive capabilities. You will also contribute to threat hunting, vulnerability investigations, security exercises, and the preparation of clear technical and management-level incident reports. Participation in an on-call or rotating response schedule may be required.
The successful candidate will have professional experience in cybersecurity operations, incident response, digital forensics, or a related discipline. You should understand common attack techniques, malware behaviour, intrusion analysis, identity compromise, network protocols, and security event correlation. Practical experience with SIEM, EDR, SOAR, threat intelligence, and forensic tools is highly desirable, along with the ability to investigate incidents using Windows and Linux systems. Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, or equivalent response methodologies is an advantage. Relevant certifications or formal training in incident handling, digital forensics, or information security are welcome. Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and prioritisation skills are essential, together with sound judgement and the ability to remain effective during high-pressure situations.
