Security Engineer (Digital)

We are seeking a Security Engineer (Digital) to help protect digital services, applications, infrastructure and customer data from evolving cyber threats. This role will contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of security controls across the technology environment, working closely with software engineers, architects, delivery teams and operational stakeholders. You will support secure-by-design principles throughout the development lifecycle and help ensure that digital products meet appropriate security, privacy and resilience standards.

Key responsibilities include conducting security reviews and threat modelling for applications, APIs, cloud services and infrastructure; identifying vulnerabilities and recommending practical remediation actions; supporting penetration testing and security assurance activities; and helping to embed automated security checks within CI/CD pipelines. You will monitor emerging threats, contribute to incident response and investigation, and assist with the development of security policies, standards, patterns and technical guidance. The role will also involve producing clear risk assessments, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating security findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. You may contribute to security architecture decisions, third-party assessments, audit activity and continuous improvement initiatives.

Applicants should have professional experience in application, cloud, infrastructure or digital security, with a good understanding of secure development practices, vulnerability management, identity and access management, encryption, network security and common attack techniques. Experience with public cloud platforms, security tooling, source control, containerisation and automated deployment pipelines would be advantageous. Relevant industry certifications or equivalent practical experience are welcome. You should be analytical, collaborative and comfortable balancing security requirements with usability, delivery timelines and operational needs. Strong communication skills, sound judgement and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risk are essential.
