Cybersecurity Expert (United Kingdom)
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Expert to help protect critical systems, applications, networks and data across a complex technology environment in the United Kingdom. This role will suit a security professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement, clear communication and a proactive approach to identifying and reducing risk. You will work closely with technology, engineering, compliance and business teams to strengthen security practices and support the safe delivery of new services.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and investigating security alerts, leading incident response activities, conducting vulnerability assessments and recommending effective remediation plans. You will contribute to security architecture reviews, threat modelling, penetration-testing coordination and the implementation of appropriate controls across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments. The role will also involve developing and maintaining security policies, standards and procedures; supporting risk assessments and audits; tracking regulatory and industry requirements; and producing clear reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will be expected to stay informed about emerging threats, attack techniques and defensive technologies, using this knowledge to improve detection, prevention and resilience.
Applicants should have proven experience in a cybersecurity, information security or related technical role, together with practical knowledge of network security, identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management and security monitoring tools. Experience with cloud security, SIEM platforms, incident response frameworks and recognised standards such as ISO 27001 or NIST would be highly valuable. Relevant professional certifications are welcome, as is experience working in regulated or high-assurance environments. You should be analytical, organised and comfortable managing priorities in a changing environment, while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity. The successful candidate will be able to explain complex security issues clearly, influence stakeholders constructively and work independently as well as collaboratively. Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and a willingness to undertake appropriate background screening may be required.
