Data Privacy Officer
We are seeking an experienced Data Privacy Officer to lead and coordinate data protection activities across the organisation. This role will provide expert guidance on privacy legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practice, helping to ensure that personal data is collected, used, stored, and shared lawfully and responsibly. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, business teams, and project leads, promoting a strong culture of privacy and accountability.
Key responsibilities will include maintaining and reviewing privacy policies, procedures, records of processing activities, data retention schedules, and data protection impact assessments. You will monitor compliance with applicable data protection laws, support the management of data subject requests, and provide advice on international data transfers, consent, contractual arrangements, and privacy-by-design principles. The role will also involve assessing and documenting privacy risks, supporting the investigation and reporting of personal data breaches, coordinating responses to regulatory enquiries, and delivering engaging privacy training and awareness activities. You will work closely with information security, legal, compliance, procurement, and technology teams to ensure privacy requirements are embedded into business processes and new initiatives.
To succeed in this position, you will have proven experience in a data protection, privacy, compliance, or information governance role, together with a strong working knowledge of relevant privacy legislation and regulatory guidance. A recognised privacy qualification or equivalent professional experience is desirable. You should be confident interpreting complex requirements, preparing clear documentation, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong analytical, organisational, and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and exercise sound professional judgement. Experience with privacy management platforms, audits, risk assessments, incident response, and vendor due diligence would be advantageous. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to responsible data use while helping strengthen privacy controls across a varied and evolving environment.
