We are seeking an experienced Interim Cyber Risk Subject Matter Expert to provide specialist guidance and practical leadership across cyber risk management, governance and assurance activities. The successful candidate will help strengthen the organisation’s understanding of its cyber risk exposure, support informed decision-making and ensure that risks are identified, assessed, treated and reported consistently. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact in a complex environment, working with senior stakeholders, technology teams, risk functions and business leaders.

Key responsibilities will include reviewing and enhancing cyber risk frameworks, policies, standards and methodologies; leading risk and control assessments across technology, applications, infrastructure, third parties and business processes; and advising on appropriate remediation plans and risk acceptance decisions. You will maintain clear risk documentation, produce concise reporting for senior governance forums and identify trends, themes and areas requiring further investment. The role will also involve supporting regulatory, internal and external assurance activity, reviewing security exceptions, contributing to incident and issue management, and helping to embed effective cyber risk practices across the wider organisation. You will be expected to translate complex technical issues into clear business impacts and actionable recommendations.

Applicants should have substantial experience in cyber security risk, information security governance, technology risk or a closely related discipline, ideally gained within a large or regulated environment. A strong understanding of recognised frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT or CIS is required, together with experience developing risk assessments, control libraries, treatment plans and management reporting. You will need excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, sound judgement and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities. Relevant professional qualifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or equivalent experience, would be advantageous. The assignment is suited to a pragmatic, collaborative expert who can quickly understand the environment, provide credible challenge and deliver tangible improvements within an interim engagement.
