We are seeking an experienced Interim Cyber Risk Subject Matter Expert to provide specialist guidance across a complex technology and business environment. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of cyber risk management practices, ensuring that information security risks are identified, assessed, treated and reported consistently. This is a hands-on interim assignment suited to a professional who can quickly understand organisational priorities, build effective relationships and provide pragmatic recommendations.

Key responsibilities will include reviewing and enhancing cyber risk frameworks, policies, standards and procedures; conducting risk assessments across systems, applications, suppliers and business processes; and advising stakeholders on appropriate mitigation strategies. You will support the maintenance of risk registers, define risk indicators and thresholds, and produce clear reporting for senior management and governance forums. The role will also involve contributing to security architecture and control reviews, third-party and technology risk assessments, vulnerability and threat management activities, incident lessons learned, and the assessment of security risks associated with change and transformation programmes.

Applicants should have significant experience in cyber security and information risk management, ideally gained in a regulated, highly complex or large-scale environment. Strong knowledge of recognised security and risk frameworks, such as ISO 27001, NIST or similar, is required, together with an understanding of governance, risk and compliance principles, security controls, cloud technologies, supplier risk and data protection. The ability to translate technical issues into clear business risks and practical actions is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong stakeholder management capability and the confidence to challenge constructively are expected. Professional certifications in cyber security, audit, risk or information security would be advantageous. The assignment requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within a short timeframe.
