Security Engineering Manager, Applied AI

Reference: kuhlja74o9pgpxg5puod

We are seeking a Security Engineering Manager, Applied AI, to lead the development of secure, resilient, and trustworthy systems that support advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. You will manage a team of security engineers and partner closely with machine learning, software engineering, infrastructure, privacy, legal, and product stakeholders. The role will help define security strategy for AI products and platforms, ensuring that security is built into the design, development, deployment, and operation of models and related services.

Your responsibilities will include setting technical direction for application, platform, infrastructure, and AI security; identifying and mitigating risks across the machine learning lifecycle; and establishing practical controls for data protection, model access, supply-chain security, identity, monitoring, and incident response. You will lead threat modelling, security reviews, vulnerability management, red-team exercises, and investigations involving AI systems. You will also develop standards, automated tooling, and measurable security programmes that improve engineering practices without unnecessarily slowing innovation. As a people manager, you will recruit, coach, and develop engineers, set clear goals, promote inclusive collaboration, and build strong partnerships across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience leading or managing security engineering teams, along with a strong background in software, cloud, infrastructure, application, or product security. You should understand modern machine learning systems and be familiar with risks such as prompt injection, data poisoning, model extraction, insecure tool use, privacy leakage, and adversarial abuse. Experience translating complex security issues into clear priorities for technical and non-technical audiences is essential. We value hands-on technical judgement, structured problem-solving, and a pragmatic approach to risk. Relevant experience with security architecture, secure development lifecycles, incident management, compliance frameworks, and cloud-native technologies is desirable. A degree in computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
