We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineering Manager to lead the development, delivery and ongoing improvement of security capabilities across the UK and Ireland. This role will manage a team of security engineers and work closely with technology, infrastructure, software development, risk and compliance stakeholders to ensure that security is embedded throughout the organisation’s systems, services and processes. You will provide technical leadership, set clear priorities and help shape a practical, risk-based cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives.
Your responsibilities will include leading the design, implementation and operation of security controls across cloud, network, endpoint, identity and application environments. You will oversee vulnerability management, threat detection, incident response readiness, security monitoring and the secure delivery of technology projects. The role will also involve establishing engineering standards, improving automation, reviewing architectural decisions, managing third-party security considerations and supporting audit, regulatory and assurance activities. You will be expected to translate complex technical risks into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders and promote a culture of secure engineering across delivery teams.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in cybersecurity engineering, security operations or a closely related technical discipline, together with proven experience managing, mentoring and developing engineering professionals. Strong knowledge of modern security principles, cloud platforms, identity and access management, network security, vulnerability management and incident response is required. Experience operating in regulated or complex environments, leading transformational security initiatives and working with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 or CIS Controls would be advantageous. Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical decision-making. A relevant professional certification or degree is desirable, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.
