We are seeking a Data Security Specialist to help protect sensitive information, strengthen security controls, and support the secure operation of data platforms and business systems. In this role, you will work closely with technology, compliance, risk, and operational teams to identify vulnerabilities, reduce exposure, and promote effective data protection practices across the organisation. You will contribute to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical data in line with applicable policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring data security controls, reviewing access permissions, supporting identity and access management processes, and investigating potential security incidents or unauthorised activity. You will conduct risk assessments, assist with vulnerability management, and help ensure that data is appropriately classified, retained, encrypted, transferred, and disposed of. The role will also involve maintaining security documentation, preparing reports and metrics, supporting audits, and contributing to the development and testing of incident response and business continuity procedures. You may also help deliver security awareness guidance and advise colleagues on secure data handling practices.

The successful candidate will have experience in data security, information security, cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline, together with a sound understanding of security principles, risk management, access controls, encryption, vulnerability assessment, and relevant privacy obligations. Familiarity with security monitoring tools, cloud environments, data loss prevention technologies, and recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS is desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate technical risks clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, or a data privacy qualification would be advantageous. You should be organised, attentive to detail, able to manage competing priorities, and committed to maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professional integrity.
