AI Compliance & Security Engineer

We are seeking an AI Compliance & Security Engineer to help build secure, trustworthy and compliant artificial intelligence capabilities across a complex technology environment. This role will work at the intersection of cybersecurity, privacy, risk management and responsible AI, supporting the design, assessment and ongoing governance of machine-learning systems, generative AI tools and data-driven applications.

You will develop and maintain AI security and compliance frameworks aligned with relevant legislation, regulatory expectations, industry standards and internal policies. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, threat modelling and control reviews for AI systems; identifying vulnerabilities, misuse risks and data protection concerns; and defining practical mitigations across the AI lifecycle. You will establish requirements for secure model development, deployment, monitoring and retirement, while supporting controls for data governance, access management, auditability, explainability and third-party AI services. The role will also involve preparing compliance evidence, maintaining risk registers, contributing to assurance reviews and advising stakeholders on emerging AI regulations and security threats.

The successful candidate will have experience in cybersecurity, technology risk, privacy, compliance or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence and machine-learning concepts. Knowledge of recognised frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, privacy regulations or secure software development practices is highly desirable. You should be comfortable translating technical risks into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, influencing delivery teams and working collaboratively across legal, privacy, engineering, data and governance functions. Strong analytical, communication and documentation skills are essential, alongside a proactive approach to problem-solving and a genuine interest in responsible innovation. Relevant professional certifications in information security, privacy, audit, risk or AI governance would be advantageous.
