Lead Security Technical Architect - Telecoms
We are seeking a Lead Security Technical Architect to define and deliver secure, resilient architecture across complex telecommunications environments. This senior role will provide technical leadership across network, cloud, infrastructure, applications and operational technology, ensuring security is embedded throughout the design, delivery and transformation lifecycle. You will work closely with engineering, product, delivery, risk and operational teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable security solutions.
Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining security architecture principles, standards, reference models and roadmaps; leading the design of secure telecoms networks, 5G and associated platforms; assessing emerging technologies and identifying security implications; and reviewing solution designs to ensure appropriate controls are implemented. You will provide expert guidance on identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation, zero trust, cloud security, endpoint protection, monitoring and incident response. The role will also involve managing architectural risk, supporting threat modelling and security assessments, contributing to technical governance forums, and ensuring solutions align with recognised security frameworks and relevant telecommunications regulations. You will mentor architects and engineers, promote secure-by-design practices, and communicate complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Applicants should have substantial experience in security architecture, technical design or cyber security engineering within telecommunications, technology or another highly regulated environment. Strong knowledge of telecoms infrastructure, enterprise and cloud architecture, network security, application security and security operations is essential. Experience with 5G, NFV/SDN, public cloud platforms, API security and zero-trust architectures would be advantageous. You should be confident producing architecture documentation, presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions across multidisciplinary teams. Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, CISM, CCSP or equivalent experience are desirable. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise, demonstrate sound judgement and risk awareness, and be able to lead through change in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
