We are seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement and continuously improve security controls across complex cloud environments. In this role, you will work closely with infrastructure, platform engineering, software development and risk teams to protect cloud services, applications, data and identities. You will help establish secure-by-design practices, influence technical decisions and provide expert guidance on cloud security architecture, engineering and operations.

Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining cloud security standards, reference architectures and infrastructure-as-code security practices. You will assess cloud configurations, identify vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, and lead remediation activities across development and production environments. You will implement and enhance controls relating to identity and access management, network security, encryption, secrets management, logging, monitoring and workload protection. The role will also involve supporting incident response, investigating suspicious activity, contributing to threat modelling and improving security automation through scripting and CI/CD integration. You will advise engineering teams on secure deployment patterns and help ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, contractual and internal requirements.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in cloud security engineering, preferably across platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. You should be confident working with infrastructure-as-code tools, container and Kubernetes security, security information and event management systems, vulnerability management and cloud-native security services. Strong knowledge of networking, operating systems, application security and identity technologies is essential, along with practical experience of Python, PowerShell or similar scripting languages. Relevant certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, cloud security certifications or equivalent experience are advantageous. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required, together with the ability to explain complex risks clearly, prioritise effectively and deliver pragmatic security solutions in a fast-changing technical environment.
