We are seeking an experienced Governance, Data Protection (GDPR) & Policy Manager to lead the development and maintenance of effective governance, data protection and policy frameworks. This is a key role responsible for ensuring that organisational practices comply with the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and other relevant legislation, while supporting a strong culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.

You will provide expert advice on data protection matters, including data subject rights, privacy notices, records of processing activities, data protection impact assessments, information-sharing agreements, retention schedules and personal data breaches. You will monitor regulatory developments, assess their impact and translate complex requirements into clear, practical guidance for colleagues and stakeholders. The role will also involve coordinating policy reviews, maintaining governance documentation, preparing reports for senior leadership and relevant committees, and supporting audits, assurance activity and risk management. You will work collaboratively across departments to identify risks, implement proportionate controls and embed consistent standards in day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in data protection, governance, compliance or a closely related discipline, with a strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and associated legislation. A relevant professional qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, IAPP certification or an equivalent qualification, would be advantageous. You will be confident interpreting legislation, drafting and reviewing policies, managing competing priorities and communicating sensitive or complex information to a wide range of audiences. Strong analytical, organisational and influencing skills are essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication.
