An opportunity has arisen for a Data Protection Advisor to provide practical, expert guidance on data protection and privacy matters across a varied organisation. You will help promote a strong culture of compliance, ensuring personal information is handled lawfully, fairly and transparently throughout its lifecycle.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will advise on the application of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, privacy notices, data-sharing arrangements, records of processing activity and data retention requirements. You will support data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments and the review of policies, procedures and contractual documentation. The role will also involve responding to information rights requests, personal data breaches and privacy-related queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters where appropriate.
You will contribute to monitoring and assurance activity, identifying areas for improvement and helping teams implement proportionate controls. This may include delivering training and awareness sessions, preparing reports, maintaining accurate compliance records and supporting audits or regulatory enquiries. You will be expected to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, practical advice.
Applicants should have experience in a data protection, privacy, information governance or compliance role, with a sound understanding of UK GDPR and associated legislation. A relevant professional qualification, such as CIPP/E, CIPT or an equivalent data protection qualification, would be advantageous. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities with confidence. The successful candidate will be pragmatic, discreet and commercially aware, with the judgement to handle sensitive information appropriately and work collaboratively in a changing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated privacy professional to broaden their experience, influence good practice and make a meaningful contribution to the responsible use of personal data.
