We are seeking a Cyber Security Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and improve secure technology environments across a complex IT estate. The successful candidate will help protect systems, networks, applications, and data by applying strong cyber security principles throughout the technology lifecycle. This role will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, software development, and operational teams to identify risks, strengthen controls, and support the delivery of resilient services.
Key responsibilities include configuring and administering security tools such as endpoint protection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, security information and event management, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems. You will monitor security events, investigate alerts, support incident response activities, and contribute to root-cause analysis and remediation. The role will also involve conducting vulnerability assessments, reviewing system and network architectures, supporting penetration testing, maintaining secure configuration standards, and providing technical guidance on security requirements. You will help develop and maintain documentation, procedures, risk assessments, disaster recovery controls, and compliance evidence, while keeping informed of emerging threats and relevant industry standards.
Applicants should have proven experience in cyber security engineering, systems administration, network security, cloud security, or a related technical discipline. Strong knowledge of operating systems, networking concepts, authentication protocols, encryption, security monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident handling is essential. Experience with security platforms, scripting or automation, and cloud environments would be advantageous. Relevant professional certifications are welcome, such as those covering security engineering, cloud security, networking, or information security. You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to explain technical risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role requires a proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-changing threat landscape.
