We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer to lead and coordinate data protection and privacy activities across the organisation. The successful candidate will provide independent advice on compliance with applicable data protection legislation, regulatory guidance and internal policies, while promoting a strong culture of privacy and responsible information management. This role will involve working with colleagues at all levels, advising on the lawful and fair use of personal data, and ensuring that privacy considerations are embedded into business processes and decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include maintaining and reviewing data protection policies, procedures, records of processing activities and data retention schedules. You will monitor compliance, conduct privacy impact assessments, advise on data sharing arrangements, contracts and international transfers, and support the management of data subject rights requests. The role will also oversee the investigation and reporting of personal data breaches, liaise with relevant supervisory authorities where required, and provide clear recommendations to reduce privacy risks. You will develop and deliver training and awareness programmes, prepare reports for senior stakeholders, and keep informed of changes in legislation, regulatory expectations and emerging technology.

Applicants should have substantial experience in a data protection, privacy, compliance or information governance role, with a strong working knowledge of relevant data protection laws and principles. A recognised professional qualification or membership of an appropriate privacy or compliance body is desirable. You will need excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, together with the confidence to challenge constructively and explain complex requirements in clear, practical language. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, discretion and integrity, be comfortable managing competing priorities, and have experience working collaboratively with legal, information security, technology, human resources and operational teams.
