We are seeking a Cyber and Data Assurance Officer to support the effective management of information security, data protection and technology risk across the organisation. This role will help ensure that systems, processes and services meet relevant internal policies, regulatory obligations and recognised industry standards. You will work with colleagues across the business to identify risks, strengthen controls and promote a culture of secure and responsible information handling.

Key responsibilities will include coordinating assurance reviews, maintaining risk and compliance registers, and monitoring the completion of agreed actions. You will contribute to the development and review of security policies, procedures, standards and guidance, while supporting data protection assessments, audit activity and responses to information security incidents. The role will also involve reviewing supplier and third-party assurance information, assessing the effectiveness of technical and procedural controls, preparing clear reports for stakeholders, and tracking emerging cyber and data risks. You may assist with awareness initiatives, training materials, business continuity activities and exercises designed to improve organisational resilience.

The successful candidate will have experience in cyber security, information assurance, data protection, risk management or a closely related field. You should be able to interpret policies and regulatory requirements, assess evidence, identify gaps and communicate practical recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 27001, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and principles of risk-based assurance would be advantageous. Strong analytical, organisational and written communication skills are essential, together with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Relevant professional qualifications or certifications, such as CISM, CISSP, ISO 27001, CIPP or equivalent experience, would be welcomed.

The role may involve supporting supplier assurance, business continuity activities, vulnerability management and responses to information security or data protection incidents.

You will bring experience of cyber security, information assurance, data governance, risk management or a related discipline, together with the ability to interpret requirements and translate them into practical actions. Knowledge of recognised security and privacy frameworks, relevant data protection obligations and assurance methodologies would be beneficial. You should be analytical, organised and confident communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities, build effective working relationships and handle sensitive information with discretion. Relevant professional qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience are welcomed.
