This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for protecting information, systems and services against evolving cyber threats, while enabling secure and effective business operations. You will provide clear direction on security priorities, advise senior stakeholders and promote a culture in which information security is understood and embedded at every level.

You will own the information security framework, policies and standards, ensuring they remain aligned with relevant legislation, regulations, recognised industry practice and business objectives. Key responsibilities will include overseeing risk assessment and treatment, security governance, vulnerability management, incident response, identity and access management, security monitoring, third-party assurance and business continuity. You will lead the investigation and management of security incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation, communication, remediation and lessons learned. The role will also involve managing security audits, penetration testing, compliance activity and assurance reporting, as well as supporting the secure design and implementation of new technologies and services.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in information or cyber security leadership, together with a strong understanding of security architecture, risk management, data protection, cloud environments and operational resilience. Professional qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or equivalent experience would be advantageous. You will be confident influencing senior leaders, managing specialist teams and working collaboratively with technology, legal, compliance, risk and operational colleagues. Excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills are essential, along with the ability to translate complex technical risks into clear business recommendations. A pragmatic, proportionate and proactive approach to security will be highly valued.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a strong interest in protecting systems, networks, applications and data. Your responsibilities will include assisting with security monitoring, investigating alerts and supporting the identification, assessment and remediation of vulnerabilities. You may help maintain security documentation, review access controls, contribute to risk assessments and support compliance activities against relevant policies, standards and regulations. The role will also involve assisting with security testing, incident response exercises and the preparation of clear reports for technical and non-technical audiences. You will be expected to keep up to date with emerging threats, contribute ideas for process improvements and follow established procedures for handling sensitive information.

Applicants should have, or be expecting, a degree in cyber security, computer science, information technology or a related subject. A sound understanding of networking, operating systems, common cyber threats, authentication and basic security principles is required. Familiarity with tools such as vulnerability scanners, security information and event management platforms, or scripting languages would be advantageous, but full training will be provided. We are looking for someone analytical, curious and eager to learn, with good communication skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, manage competing priorities and demonstrate integrity when dealing with confidential information.

Applicants should have, or expect to achieve by September 2027, a degree in cyber security, computer science, information technology or a related subject. We are looking for strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an interest in current cyber threats and a willingness to learn new technologies and techniques. Familiarity with networking, operating systems, cloud environments, security principles, scripting or common security tools would be advantageous, but practical experience is not essential. You should communicate clearly, work well both independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate sound judgement when handling sensitive information. Eligibility to work in the relevant location and the ability to meet any required background screening criteria will be necessary.
