We are seeking a Security Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain and improve integrated security technology across a range of sites and operational environments. The role will focus on ensuring that access control, CCTV, intruder detection, intercom, alarm monitoring and related systems are reliable, secure and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and technical teams to deliver effective security solutions from initial assessment and specification through to installation, testing and ongoing support.
Key responsibilities will include assessing existing security infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending improvements; producing technical specifications, system designs, configuration documents and operational procedures; managing deployments, upgrades, integrations and acceptance testing; and investigating faults, incidents and performance issues. You will support system monitoring, maintenance schedules, patching, backups and resilience planning, while maintaining accurate asset registers, network diagrams and service documentation. The role will also involve reviewing supplier proposals, coordinating site access and works, validating contractor performance and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within agreed standards. You may be required to participate in an on-call or out-of-hours support rota.
Applicants should have proven experience engineering or supporting electronic security systems, with practical knowledge of access control, video surveillance, alarm systems, security networks and system integrations. Familiarity with IP networking, Windows or Linux environments, databases, cloud-connected platforms and cybersecurity principles would be advantageous. You will need strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to translate operational needs into robust technical solutions. Relevant professional qualifications or vendor certifications are desirable. Above all, you should be organised, collaborative and confident communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences, while maintaining a strong focus on information security, safety, compliance and service quality.
