We are seeking an experienced HVDC Cyber Security Project Engineer to support the secure delivery of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission projects. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation and assurance of cyber security measures across HVDC control, protection, automation, communication and monitoring systems. You will work closely with project managers, system engineers, suppliers, commissioning teams and customers to ensure that cyber security is integrated throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial requirements and concept design through testing, commissioning and handover.

Your responsibilities will include conducting cyber security risk assessments, developing security requirements and architecture, reviewing technical designs, and maintaining project-specific security documentation. You will help define and verify controls relating to network segmentation, secure remote access, identity and access management, system hardening, vulnerability management, logging, monitoring and incident response. You will coordinate security activities with equipment manufacturers and engineering partners, assess deviations and technical risks, and support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing and commissioning activities. You may also contribute to threat modelling, compliance assessments, audit preparation and the development of operational security procedures for HVDC assets.

To be successful, you will have a degree or equivalent qualification in cyber security, electrical engineering, control systems, information technology or a related discipline, together with professional experience in industrial control systems, operational technology or critical infrastructure security. Knowledge of HVDC, power transmission, SCADA, protection and control systems is highly desirable. Familiarity with recognised cyber security standards and frameworks, such as IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NIST or relevant energy-sector regulations, is expected. You should be comfortable interpreting technical documentation, managing priorities across multiple workstreams and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional security certifications and experience working in internationally distributed project teams would be advantageous.
