Cyber Security Governance & Assurance Specialist
We are seeking a Cyber Security Governance & Assurance Specialist to strengthen organisational security governance, risk management and assurance activities. The successful candidate will help ensure that cyber security policies, processes and controls remain effective, proportionate and aligned with relevant legislation, regulatory expectations, industry standards and business objectives. This is an opportunity to work with stakeholders across technology, risk, compliance and operational teams to promote a consistent and practical approach to cyber security.
Key responsibilities will include maintaining and improving cyber security policies, standards, procedures and control frameworks; coordinating control assessments, assurance reviews and audit activity; tracking remediation plans and reporting progress to governance forums; and preparing clear management information, risk summaries and assurance reports. You will support the identification, assessment and treatment of cyber risks, challenge control owners where appropriate, and help embed security requirements into projects, suppliers, services and operational processes. The role will also involve monitoring changes in the threat, regulatory and technology environment, supporting incident and issue reviews, and contributing to continuous improvement across the security governance framework.
Applicants should have experience in cyber security governance, risk, compliance, assurance or a closely related discipline, together with a sound understanding of security controls and recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST or CIS. You will be confident interpreting policy and regulatory requirements, conducting evidence-based reviews and communicating complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively. Relevant professional qualifications, such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC or ISO 27001 experience, would be advantageous. A proactive mindset, attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality are expected.
